As someone who grew up outside Philadelphia he lived in Pittsburgh and spent the longest winter of my life in Illinois, I've never had a problem getting around the ice and snow. In the past three days I trudge back and forth from the newspaper the hotel is on the road. No problem. At least I know how to do it: Follow the signs. Step into the crunch of snow. Avoid the ice at any price. On Wednesday morning but my ice skills to walk were useless. Even the crisp snow was frozen hard. After 10 minutes I ventured perhaps 100 feet. And then the SUV pulled alongside. Need to go somewhere suggested the driver. I have four wheels. I jumped into the passenger seat to find out I would be happy to go to the end of the road.
